This week's title is Enchantments. Clockwise from upper left; interior of the Manavgat mosque, two ducks swimming in sun-dappled green water, a still lake in Turkiye, a picturesque ruin in the same country, ruins of the temple of Apollo in Side, the full, orange harvest moon, a tatty (potato) lorry in northern Scotland, a blazing sunset in Turkiye, a fair with bouncy castles in front of a historic church in Pennsylvania, and a white minaret towering above a town in Turkiye.

How's your weather? Paigetheoracle says in northern Scotland, he's seen basking lizards at times, but then it rained and the toads came out. FWR has been all over sunny Türkiye and seen some spectacular sights, which we share with you. As we know, the rain and flooding has been heavy in Europe – and even worse in North America. The Post Office has merely had a week of rain, but in the rest of the Appalachians, things are dire: whole towns wiped out, communities cut off, and flooding everywhere. If you have photos from where you are, we'd like to see them. And our thoughts are with those in the affected areas.

In the meantime, we take you on tours. You'll see some surprising sights in this issue. Ancient structures. Modern structures. Memorials to events you didn't know about. Over it all, the harvest moon looks down.

In the fiction department, Caiman's campers are still having adventures. I'm having pseudo-theological fantasies. Bluebottle's church fête gets ever more interesting as it works toward the exciting conclusion. Speaking of church fêtes, we had one in Hooverville. I got a picture. Speaking of theology, pseudo- and otherwise: FWR has a wild romp for you. He invoked the game-playing gods and took the Hamster's name in vain. And you know what? His log-in problem solved itself! Strange are the ways of Hootoo.

And speaking of fiction: we have a new book for sale. If you don't live in France, you can probably get it delivered within a few days. Thanks as always to SashaQ for editorial work, and to Tavaron for art advice. FWR has been reading an advanced copy. His comment: 'And you think I'M weird.' Other reviewers have declared my work in general to be 'poignant' and 'educational'. What a combination. C'est la vie.

There are lots of other wonderful things to be discovered in this issue: cinema. A quiz. A chance to critique the birding skills of AI. What we insist is humour. And a reminder to send us your ghost stories – it's October, after all.

Have a good week, stay dry if you can, and remember to document your surroundings.

Quote of the Week:
Won two books of short ecclesiastical horror stories, two jars of jam, and some marmalade at the church fête.

Honestly, that's all I could have wanted.
