Glad we took last week's wholemeal bread as the swans were starving. The female gobbled her fill while the cob kept watch, the little cygnet was hoovering up the crumbs that mom left. Then the mother moved away and the cob eased forward to eat. Not for a second was the cygnet left alone. We are used to seeing large swan families. Terrible that there was only one left from their clutch. We reckon a fox would've got the others, either as eggs or the cygnets.
