What We See

A yellow daffodil by DG.

Looking at the world is an art we're all trying to perfect, whether we know it or not. It's highly individual, as these pages will show. Paigetheoracle has been galumphing around the Scottish Highlands with his mobile and frankly, what he sees is not what anybody else would have seen on the same walk. Of course it helps that his guide and target-finder is Luna the puppy – short for 'Lunatic', he says. The two of them get their own section in this week's issue.

They aren't the only peculiar observers whose work is on display this week. FWR and Milla had me scratching my head, although Tavaron's flowers are pretty self-explanatory – as is FWR's rainbow. They don't have meetings about rainbows, as Haley Joel Osment said.

Willem's still busy out there in the veld, but I had an idea: we need to get his backlog out of hock. That is, the articles, paintings, and photos we lost during what I privately call the Great Content Snatch of 2023. So this week, we're featuring two of Willem's blast-from-the-past articles. If you haven't seen them before, you're in for a treat – and if you have, you may enjoy revisiting these interesting creatures.

There's humour in here, and historical glimpses, and cinema from the ever-reliable Awix. The ongoing stories go on. Some of them are getting pretty exciting, and some are downright outrageous. If you haven't been keeping up you can refer to the archive to catch up on your reading.

I hope you're enjoying whatever climate you're in, and whatever season. Around here, it's hard to keep up. Last week felt like summer. Today it's raining and 2°C. The usual coy springtime. So remember to check the weather before you go out, and have a great week!

Quote of the Week: My Mother the Car was canceled in April of '66, Dragnet debuted in January of '67, both on NBC. Clearly the latter was pushback against the obviously drug fueled origins of the former.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
