Where There's a Will
The old man's eyes, A sharp blue knife Looked into mine And questioned life. The life I'd lived The things I'd done The gifts I'd had My girls, my son. What would I leave My wife, my kids? Asked knife blue eyes Through tired old lids. Not land, or things, Bricks, or money But memories Sweet as honey? What will you leave? The eyes turned sad The memories of Husband, Dad? What will you leave For grandkids too? Will they smile Remembering you? Blue eyes dug deep The answer found. I'll leave them Love, When I'm in the ground. Most valued things Are love, affection, Blue eyes smiled back From my reflection. |
