A Conversation for Wedding Photography - Hints and Tips

Stand alone entry?

Hi Bob, weird how things evolve, maybe this needs more detail if it's taken out of your hints and tips entry.

The opening para "If you ask yourself, 'Am I ready for this?' and the answer is 'No' then you're not! "

I think the original sounds better. If you ask yourself "am I ready for this?" Then the answer is no!

Hi FWR

Thanks for your comment. I didn't want the detail of this to be lost in the more general advice in the other Entry, so I split it out the other day and bob is happy with that, but I see your point that more could be added to it as a separate Entry. If you want to add your thoughts in this thread, I can update the Entry no problem.

Sorry your opening paragraph got lost in translation - I've sorted that out smiley - ok

Thanks Basha! That B suits you! Lol

If we are going down the road of a stand alone wedding photography entry rather than "general advice" I personally think that photographers insurance needs to be mentioned, both public liability and professional indemnity cover .

Even as an amateur doing friends and family a favour accidents can happen.

Someone trips over your tripod and breaks a leg or rips an expensive outfit, who will they sue?

Even worse, imagine your camera or memory card develops a fault and ALL the photos are ruined...who are the unhappy couple going to sue?

Gods forbid your equipment gets stolen just before the big day, sorry but I can't do your wedding just won't cut it, breach of contract law suit and the bill for an emergency stand in goes to...?

You lean against a fifteenth century church wall and it crashes down. Who's going to get the bill....?

Yup...you!

Wedding photography, as well as being a joy, is also a very stressful job to take on. If in doubt leave it to the professionals and be happy with taking shots alongside the other guests, you'll always get some nice pics - without all the worry!

Florida Sailor All is well with the world

Just a point that I didn't see. I am already on the list, so I a not looking for a creditsmiley - biggrin At some weddings I have seen cheap disposable cameras left on the tables so that guests can contribute their own photos. In this day of cheap digital cameras (admittedly low resolution), it is an opportunity for some of the guests, who know the couple much better, to add what could be a welcome addition of close friends for the Bride and Groom.

Hi GB smiley - biggrin

This is a bit of an unusual Entry, as it is a spinoff from one that went through Peer Review, so I wasn't quite sure how to handle it, but it is now ready to go.

Putting it on Trello is an excellent idea so I will do that now smiley - ok
