Bluebottle writes: 'When I walked Hadrian's Wall back in April 2009 we passed the Carrawbrough Mithraeum, a Roman temple to the god Mithras, who was said to have been born from an egg on 25th December. Amusingly the replica central altar not only had amassed a small collection of coinage in offering but also a chocolate egg too, presumably symbolising Mithras' birth.' So. . .
