I visited the Ness Botanic Garden today and discovered they have a Katsura there. I found it and enjoyed the delicious scent from surprisingly far away, but I was able to get closer too. 
It grows in a sheltered spot at the side of a small lake so it gets plenty of water, and dappled light reaches it through the neighbouring trees. It isn't acid soil so the autumn leaf colour is very yellow without the pinks, but impressive to see nonetheless.
