In Carl Sagan's Contact, Dr. Ellie Arroway travels to some distant galaxy VIA a intergalactic wormhole routing station of sorts near Vega. She doesn't have any idea where she actually went (or if she even traveled at all).*
*No spoiler alert because if you haven't read this book yet, you should have.
