Is benzene a cyclo-something?

I know of benzene mostly because of the story on how it was discovered, not because I know chemistry. It seems that it doesn't fit either pattern given here.

Benzene's a different type of organic compound: an arene / aromatic compound. A key difference between cyclo-compounds and aromatic compounds is that aromatic compounds have a ring of carbon atoms at their centre that contains delocalised electrons - electrons that do not 'belong' to any one carbon atom, but which move freely between all the carbon atoms in the ring.
