I can't grow winter vegies because my winter is subject to 4 ft. snow drifts and -20degrees centigrade. Now greenhouse here. Spring planting much depends upon how cold, late and perhaps wet it is. Most of the time, I plant everything too late. Sigh....

A cautionary tale for all bulb planters: I was planting Daffodil and Crocus bulbs this weekend to prepare a fine yield for late February to March, and expended much effort in doing so.
The following morning I was dismayed to see the local family of squirrels digging up the crocus bulbs and eating them. I did gather however that daffodils are not to their taste.
