Oh Glorious Day
or
(If Wishes Were Doughnuts)
Oh glorious day I caught a fish
A fish, a fish, a glorious dish
To serve with chips on a carpet of green
Yes mushed up peas a sight to be seen
All higgledy-piggledy on my plate
Oh glorious plate I decide its fate
For though fish is indeed a glorious dish
I muchly prefer a doughnut, I wish
Oh glorious day I caught a prawn
A prawn just one, so forlorn
To serve with salad in a dish so grand
Yes salad all green, straight from the land
All yummy scrummy in my bowl
Just waiting for me to fill the hole
But though prawn salad is really a glorious dish
I muchly prefer a doughnut, I wish
Oh glorious day I caught a worm
A worm, a worm, my tummy did turn
To serve on a stick, so straight and true
A wiggly worm is not something I'd do
Some say that eating worms will make me fit
But honestly it would just make me sick
For though a worm is indeed a glorious dish
I muchly prefer a doughnut, I wish
Oh glorious day spent napping and quiet
Sitting under a tree, watching folk go by it
Wishing oh wishing that wishes came true
An old dream of mine, it's not nothing new
For the thing I do most want cannot be caught
Or at least I have tried and came up nought
For what really makes the most glorious of dishes
Are doughnuts of course, for doughnuts are my wishes
