A Conversation for Buckeyes - A Sweet Treat

A proud Buckeye !

As I hail from the "Buckeye State" of Ohio, USA I'm delighted to make this my first post at h2g2. I remember the first time I saw these sweet confections at the Ohio State Fair. The Midway of the fair had this
portable trade pavilion built to look like a huge "buckeye" seed. There was a large serving window in it and several cute girls cheerfully handing out free samples of these sweet confections to eager patrons.

Of course they were selling these by the box to be delivered to your home
so one wouldn't have to pack them along as one toured the fair. Otherwise it would have been quite the temptation to eat the whole box. Since I first saw them I've noticed the popularity has grown here in the states.

I'm simply in awe of the fact that these have become so popular in Europe. I'm one Appalachian-American who's feeling quite proud of that tonight.
