Alternative method for slicing a banana

First, this is a very amusing entry, Gnomon!
OK, here is a trick I learnt when I was a scout (amazingly useful stuff you learn there, right?):
Needle and thread
A banana is often not completely round (around), but has a few edges
Push the needle in at one of the 'edges', follow the inside of the skin as close as possible, push the needle out at next edge
Push the needle into the same hole you pushed it out trough, and push it out at the next edge, and so on all around the banana, finishing with pushing the needle out of the starting hole
The thread has now completely surrounded the banana inside the skin, and both ends of it should poke out of the same hole - pull threads to cut through the banana
Repeat
Note: do this just before you serve the banana, because the holes tend to turn brown after a while

I've seen this method but looks very elaborate compared with just using a pin.

If you continue along the banana so that the thread follows a spiral along the inside of the skin and then pull the thread straight... you might get something interesting, or a complete mess. If someone decides to try, tell me the result.
