Mad King Ruprecht Raids the Temple of Doom

Peru, 1936.

The formidable walls of the archaic Chimu temple erupted alarmingly around me in a shower of deadly flying masonry and throwing caution to the wind I fled back across the booby trapped chamber; murderous poisoned darts whistling past my head with every heavy footfall.

I leapt nimbly over the bottomless deadfall and deftly rolled beneath the rapidly descending stone door. In true dramatic fashion I paused briefly to retrieve my hat mere seconds before the secret chamber sealed forever.

A thunderous din alerted my senses to the presence of an immense ball of solid rock; filling the corridor from wall to wall and careering purposefully towards me with terrifying velocity. I took to my heels and with the remainder of my stamina pounded frantically toward the faint light that shone weakly from the terminus of this most hazardous tunnel.

With a final burst of speed I launched myself artlessly through the inviting opening mere moments before the spherical boulder crashed forcefully home.

Exhausted, I lay panting amid the jungle foliage and triumphantly examined my prize.

To my dismay, instead of the fabulous idol of the Golden Tumi I was expecting, I had inexplicably returned with my bag of sand.
