What a charming entry this is. 
It's called 'Kuckucksspucke' (cuckoo spit) in German, too. I remember that we children never picked any flowers which had it on it, we thought it was disgusting.

I remember being fascinated by it on plants in our garden (and other places) as a kid. It seemed slightly surreal.
