Defeat

My world is full of sadness it cannot contain my tears

Flashes of some subtle images of pain, of looming dreaded fears

In substance I am but of little content, no fixed reason for my shame

Yet it burns within me, my very organs fired with wretched pain

My life is not perhaps worthy of living, time to stop and leave it

be

Statements of how much I fear the truth of what this feeling has done to me

Yet I continue on in my lonely quest to find peace in my darkest hour

To drive away the emptiness of a life that has long since turned sour

I long for redemption; I crave for someone to set me free

I wish with all my corrupted heart that sadness will let me be

Strong feelings of regret and guilt over what I know I have become

To change is my biggest desire in life, to rise myself out of the slum

But time and life does batter down upon unprotected souls

Creating worlds where hopes and dreams of peace are shattered and take there toll

Now alone and bereft I have no fight left in me to wage war

And silently I slip away, leaving a life that has meaning to me no more

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
