I know the rules:
You must stand up when this turgid tune (and I use that word in it's loosest sense) is played.
You must mumble along, or at least pretend to know the words - some semblance of the tune would also be nice.
all I'm asking for is that you join me in resolutely staying seated and humming Elvis tunes for the duration.
If we ignore it long enough, it will go away!
