A Conversation for Status Quo - the Band

... is the title of a videotape I have with 14 classic rock music videos, published by Polygram Music Video in 1990. Some good stuff (Queen, Rush, Deep Purple), some crap (for me anyway - Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams). It includes Status Quo's "Rockin' All Over the World" which I like, even tho I've never been much of a fan - did they get much air play in the US? The video is memorable because of the bass player, who appears to be a life-size marionette. Talk about your changing lineups ...
BTW, there is a full page ad in the Dec. 2005 issue of Uncut magazine for their double disc DVD.

I (1951) liked their music. The word "powerfull" comes into my mind.
(hope it has to do with their music )

One of their songs can drive you clean across a dance hall floor and back!

Yes, that'll probably be Caroline then! There is a certain generation (not mine) who know how to boogie to this one...
One of the first 7" singles I bought as a kid was Caroline (live at the NEC) in '82. I was giving it its first play and my mum came in, put her thumbs in the belt-loops of her jeans and started doing that Quo 'dance'! I've never been the same since.

SteveK, for some reason, Quo never made it in the US. Their first 60s hit single did marginally better in the States than in the UK, but since then its never worked for them. By the mid 70s they gave up trying.
Odd really, as some of their stuff is quite 'country' (although obviously not real 'country'). I used to get CMTV (CountryMusicTV) on cable about 10 years ago and a lot of it was very Quo-like.
>>the bass player, who appears to be a life-size marionette.<< Yes, the bass player was living in Australia and couldn't make it to the video shoot. He was livid about it apparently.
