Excellent entry.smiley - applause

I lived in the Arabian Gulf for some years & found Arabic to be far easier to learn than i have found learning French. It's a very logical language system & personally, i like the way it sounds, though i know many people don't.

I found the alphabet very easy to understand & once you get that, you can do "decoding"; which obviously makes life much easier & definitely helps with progress in the spoken language. And the calligraphy is beautiful.

Some sounds are difficult: it helps if you have some knowledge of spoken German actually; the "ch" stuff, but nothing can help with "ghaar".... i once saw it described as "the sort of noise a camel makes when it is being strangled"
