A Conversation for System Shock - the Computer Game Series
Shodan's voice

First off, fantastic article on what i consider to be the very pinnacle of gaming.
The point of this thread, I could never confirm it, but I always got the impression that Shodan's voice was recorded as a monotone and then given intonnation by changing the speed during the sample. Can this be cofirmed or denied?

I don't know enough about sound engineering to know for sure.
But i always thought that they probably took the sound sample of Terri Brosius's (the voice of SHODAN) voice. Then duplicated it and layering them one on top of the other. Then they altered each sample layer in different ways. Slowing it down, speeding it up, altering the pitch etc. To end up with the final SHODAN sound
