A Conversation for Yoga Nidra - Mind Travel Round the Body
Staying Awake

Thank you for a lovely and informative article. I have practiced Yoga Nidra in classes and at home with a tape but still manage to fall asleep, even without the aid of a darkened room. At least I think I fall asleep but always manage to 'come round' as the tape finishes.

You're not alone, Gwennie!
The theory says that whether you stay awake or go to sleep, you should still get the benefits, though. Although, if I fall asleep, I tend to feel a bit guilty, so I do my best to stay awake.

I have fallen asleep and had to be woken up at the end of the practise. I was also told that I was snoring.... does that make me a bad person? My swami says that I must concentrate more on his voice.
About the MP3, I’ve got a CD and can rip it for you if you would like it.

I've also suffered the embarrassment of snoring during relaxation/meditation in a class. I normally wake myself up with a large snort to find everyone laughing at me!
Sorry but I only have very old audio tapes that I bought way back in the 1980's so can't help out on the MP3 front.

B-p, thanks for the offer, but I was also considering the copyright issues; it would have been nice to add a link to the MP3s to the article...

I found the link below, which might be helpful. Apparently they can supply tapes in the UK, US and Australia.

Thanks. I don't have sounds on my computer. I will check out getting a tape from the site. I got my originals fom the Yoga Mandala Centre in Wales. I'll check this out too.
