A Conversation for Herge's Adventures of Tintin

Buying the rarer books

Post 1

Peregrin

Maybe I sound like a geek, but I have (almost) the complete collection of Tintin albums, and the complete collection of Asterix albums, from when I was a child!

I've only recently heard about Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, Tintin in the Congo, and Tintin and the Alpha-Art. Anyone know where I can find these in English (preferably not at too great a cost!)? I found Land of the Soviets in French in an obscure record shop in the back streets of Brussels, but it wasn't for sale smiley - erm

I'm personally a bigger fan of Asterix, but I'd like to complete my Tintin collection smiley - biggrin

Hi Peregrin,

Sorry, meant to reply to you earlier, but forgot!

There's a link in the entry to the official website, which has a shop. And I think there's also a specialist place in Covent Garden in London. I've deleted all my research links, but it's definitely got a website. Let me know if you can't find it, and I'll try and track it down for you.

Best wishes

Otto

Hi Dave,

Sorry, I thought that was a rhetorical question...

Apparently there were two live-action film versions made in the 1950s, which were both rubbish.....

Doesn't Lake of the Sharks or whatever it was called count as a film? I've got the book but never seen it, it's an animation. I don't think it was written by Herge though.

The story's quite good, a bit different from the others (obviously as it isn't written by Herge) and the artwork is completely different, as it has traditional animation painted backdrops. Worth purchasing to complete a collection, but I'd recommend the regular albums as better reads.
