A Conversation for Japan - the Band
Mick Karn

Mick Karn has been a member of two successful groups in Japan in recent years. The first, NiNa, featured Kate Pierson (B-52's) and ex-members of The Plastics. They scored the Christmas No1 single and album in 2000 in Japan. After Kate Pierson and a couple of others left, Mick and Masahide Sakuma recruited Masami Tsuchiya (ex-Japan and Ippu Do), Gota Yashiki (ex-Simply Red, Melon and Soul II Soul drummer) and Vivian Hsu (a former porn actress) to form The D.E.P., who have released an album in the past year and played the Fuji Rock festival. Karn is also a regular collaborator with Sugizo from Luna Sea (one of Japan's biggest stars in the Visual Rock scene). He also recently worked with Kate Bush on new material, plus Miu Sakamoto (Ryuichi Sakamoto and Akiko Yano's 22 year old daughter).
