anytime you are in holland, try to go here. it's trule a family fun theme park and now even educational environmental!
the fairytale theme forrest is for the smallest of us, with musical mushrooms, moving floortiles and a fiery dragon. Snowwhite and Hansel and Gretchen are a small example of a number of characters found there.
then, for us more grownups, there is the Python ride. it might not be europe's largest rollercoaster, but it's the first one. there's also a new rollercoaster, called vogelrock ("birdrock"). it's quite exhilirating, because it's completely in the dark. Warning: DO NOT GO IN THERE IF YOU ARE EASILY NAUSEATED, WHIPLASHED OR A GENERAL WHIMP! (in other words: go if you can, it's cool!).
other apparently nausiating experiences can be found in a rocking boat. sit on a far end, the best place if you don't want to get hit by matter coming from nauseated people's mouths. they sit next to you and because of gravity forces, people who are in front of you are the main target. puke will therefore never reach the opposite side. believe me on that.
other places to feel your stomach turning are a wooden rollercoaster, Pegasus, and a haunted house called Villa Volta. The latter really is stomach-turning. main story is a local legend, and the hause is supposed to be haunted, which means that during the story, the floor moves so that the ceiling is below and vice versa. You don't really move around too much, but a close friend of mine, who never ever goes in any ride whatsoever, went in and came out with a four-day migraine. enjoy!
there is even stuff to enjoy fantasy lovers; dreamflight. it's a slow journey to a worlds filled with fairies and gnomes in hte most beatiful forrest surroundings.
the environmental part is a new attraction, Panda dream. it has been developped together with WNF and is entertaining with a 3d movie and educating in the next part, with videos and other stuff. a lot of collectables as well, and any profit made from this goes to the World Nature Fund.
last but not least there is the land of laaf. this is a separate part of the park, sort of like and enclave for the people of laaf. they are gnomes, and you better watch out for them. it looks as though they are sleeping, but my guess that is just the state they are in during the day. at night, they are not quite as friendly as they look during the day. remember the traveling gnomes, you know, the ones that send postcards from exotic places? we know that is fake, it's just people from the 'gnome liberation front' traveling around the world with a garden gnome in their arms. the people of laaf are not that innocent. they have created millions of gnomes who look just like them in numerous stances. pick a profession and there's a laaf made just like that. they are expedited to all parts of the world. they are mysteriously concuring us, and we don't even know it! so, for our own safety, please visit the land of laaf if you are in the neighbourhood, just to see what they look like. if ever you encounter such gnome in your part of the world, you'll know what to do. run, run far away, or, preferably, please destroy or at least disable them. it's for your own safety.

i went to de efteling over a quarter of a century ago, when i was a very wee bairn, and i can still vividly remember the fairytale land. considering that my memory is generally quite useless, i think that must say a lot for how impressive i found it!
