A Conversation for h2g2 Guidelines for Discussions During the Iraq War

This might be a good time to remind people of the "Petition for Greater Freedom on h2g2" at A544943. That page hasn't seen much activity since the return to self-policing community moderation. It felt like we had "won." But if anyone reading this Iraq policy would like to show their feelings on a petition that has already gotten many signatures, please consider reading and signing the petition.
If you don't agree with all the points on the petition, just mention which parts of the petition you like and which you don't agree with. I'd also suggest that you mention the IRAQ POLICY prominently in your post, to show if you were motivated to sign because of this new restriction.
It probably seems like we're just selfish writers who want to blather about any topic freely, but part of the reason people oppose this policy is that we would never hold BBC responsible for the kind of silly things they're worried about. We don't understand why members of the public need to be restricted in order to ensure that members of the public (like us!) won't hold BBC responsible.
