there is this really creepy kids story, the name of which escapes me, ti was made in to a tv shoe on beeb 1 about 10 years ago. amy way, that had this drummer boy who had to walk throug this tunnel under a hill banning the drum so they could hear him and figure out where the tunnel went. except........
he came out about a hundred years later.

Yes, I was reminded of the same TV show, alas, I also cannot remember its name.

Hmmm, you've got me curious now, as I've never heard of such a series... Must do some digging...

they always used to show these shows on a wednesday after newsround. in this one there was also something to do with a cndle i think. the drummer boy, having come out in modern england was helped by two local lads, but i've got the vague memory that something nasty happens to one of them.
i think the book cover i once had (idiot sold it) had like iron age style spirals on it.
i think the author had written other stuff.
if there an archive on the web of old CBBC shows?

It's called Earthfasts, based on the novel by William Mayne. In 1993, it was adapted as a six-part BBC children's serial, marking an early leading role for Paul Nicholls, later a star of 'EastEnders'.

See Posting # 6 in this thread, Dave. All the info's there.
(By the way, the song had nothing to do with the book or the legend )
