True! smiley - biggrin They were on 'Top Of The Pops' week after week, with Chubby actually shouting 'Who the bleep is Alice?' Maybe that's where h2g2 got the idea for the smiley - bleep Smiley? smiley - laugh

The band don't even attempt to sing their original version now.

I hated the Roy Chubby Brown version, but I thought he was insulting Smokie and I've always been a big fan.
Now they have him to thank for the resurgance of their popularity worldwide!smiley - biggrin

I've seen them live in Warrington twice, and thought their covers of first cut is the deepest and never rains in california were great!

...but not as good as Oh Carol!
