A Conversation for David Hockney - Artist

Hockney

Hockney is an over-weight, mouthy, Americanized Brit, whose
unabashed self-promotion (born of desperation) couldn't but help endear him to the Anglo-American intelligentia.

Unaccustomed to believing that the English could be other than polite, decent and reserved, the American intelligentia got shocked into the realization -- and accepting, in joy, of the realization -- that some among the English, with any kind of a name, could be so easily colonized.

It's the American way, isn't it: buy it. Buy the best, wherever in the world it is -- in science, in athletics, in information technology, and on and on. Buy it!

As Blair, for all of his self-imposed convictions was bought,
BY BUSH.

I'd love to write an intelligent reply to this rant, but I couldn't really see any argument. So, instead, I shall simply say... eh?

Sorry to take so long. I couldn't agree more, David. Hockney is a hack-artist, who traded on presenting himself as a wild-minded Brit, who had a reasonably bright agent, who saw the vulnerability, the soft under-belly of American insecurity.

Because you are not up to it, Emily. That's the truth of the matter.
