A Conversation for How Old Is Your Cat in Relation to You?

age of cat vs. human

I've had cats for the last 20-odd years, somewhere in between two and seven at the same time (currently three tomcats, aged 8,5 - 4 - 0,5).
One rule states that 1 year for a cat equals 7 for a human, but this does'nt take into account that they grow faster in their early life.
As a rule, I always count their age as follows:
First cat-year = 15 human-years
Second cat-year = 10 human-years
All next cat-years = 5 human-years.
E.g. our cat aged 8,5 would be 15+10+6,5x5 = 47,5
the one aged 4 would the be 15+10+2x5 = 35
the kid-cat of 0,5 would (almost) be 9 or even 10.
Note that a cat after its first cat-year (of 15 human-years) is well past its puberty, but not yet fully adult.
This rule has mostly proven coorect to my observations on their behaviour and health.
Greetings,
Zuiltje
