British and Commonwealth universities prefer IATEFL, which is a more traditional exam (scored by people like me)It includes a guided interview and a standard five paragraph "academic" essay smiley - star

Hmmm... Queen Mary and Westfield College (London) wanted a TOEFL ... should I go and try to have the entry amended?

No - your info is probably more current than mine. I haven't had a student try to go to London for six or seven years. Oddly, the Uni where I now work (in Hong Kong) will accept a decent score at TOEFL instead of our in-house courses for people whose A level entry isn't good enough to graduate. This makes it the obvious choice for those who hav poor spoken English (of whatever dialect) smiley - star

smiley - shrug Ok.

What a strange system is that? Why do they keep the in-house course, then? Or rather, why do they bother with the TOEFL then? A decent course at uni should be better in telling them how good one speaks/writes/understands English... smiley - silly that.
