), can you pick up rats, etc, from homes like you can for dogs and cats? Or are pet stores the only option?

I would say it depends on how much you trust the person selling the rats... if you think theyre not inbred and underfed I dont think it would matter.

I have met people who I wouldn't trust with a house plant, let alone a breathing animal that can feel pain and suffering. Yet they still get a minagorie of pets. Poor blighters.
