A Conversation for Rammstein - the Band

Hi!

Just wanted to say I enjoyed the article. It is nicely written, and, from what little I know of the band (i.e. VERY little) accurate too. I often play the song Du Hast at parties - It drives people wild. The pounding, insistent beat, and the heavy guitars/bassline and the shouting... Brilliant!

That song, incidentally, can also be found on the Matrix sound track. Strange, really, as I have yet to find it in the movie (despite having seen it about 9 times now...)

Anyway. Thanks for a good article smiley - smiley

The only place i can find it in the Matrix is in the credits right at the end... (at least on the region 4 DVD)

Man, I saw Rammstein at Big Day Out in Sydney Australia, they ROCKED!!!

The atmosphere was awesome, especially with flake going for a paddle in his little boat on the audience!

yeah, it's a great article, really thoughtful. I've been a fan for 5 years after hearing them in Germany, and went to see them in London only last week. I see they're also in the UK singles charts!!

If any of you readers haven't heard them GO AND FIND SOME NOW!

Please don't think I'm some teenage metalhead or worse, I'm actually a 40 year old mum who has at last managed to get her kids to listen to something decent. These are consummate musicians who manage to combine extreme heavyness with the most beautiful, yearning operatic melodies in some songs, and the energy and attitude of punk in others. Their only 'sin' as far as the Great British Public is concerned is that they sing in their native German. Oh, and of course, that they write and perform their own great songs, which doesn't go down too well these days.

Check them out! I haven't felt like this about a band since I was a teenager.

Wow. A forty year old into heavy music. Most people have sold out by then.

Sold out? Moi? I may be old, fat, grey and toothless (maybe a bit of an exageration smiley - smiley but my ears still work a treat - not that they've any business to after the hammering they've had for the last 25 years or more. Rammstein are still my favourites some 18 months after writing that last post, but why not also check out Tanzwut, Stahlhammer and Laibach (who are alleged to have influenced Rammstein greatly).

Dear all,

As you kindly mentioned some years ago that you love Rammstein (the band) (at least, you did some years ago when you mentioned that you did), there is a new album coming up. I posted some info A680861, which I hope you find useful.

Y.

Wow - must be ages since I checked out this thread.
Thanks for the info. As a still-diehard fan I've got the album (Reise, Reise) and singles, the newish dvd Lichtspielhaus and seen them twice since you posted. And once again, they were everything I wanted them to be.
I see they're even getting a bit of play on Kerrang! tv etc and the audience were a lot younger than when I first saw them in 2000, but they're still the best band around.
