Thank you for a most informative article. I had the pleasure of flying in Concorde from St. Petersberg to Heathrow on it's first flight from Russia. I was struck by the relative lack of space inside the aircraft, but climbing up those high steps (I could still walk then) was a great thrill. We could only go through the sound barrier for a very short time over the North Sea because otherwise we were over land all the time. I wonder why it has not been used for long haul flights for instance to Australia and New Zealand. It seems to me to be the ideal aircraft for this light which is punishing to passengers (and I am sure crew) on the conventional aircraft now used. Is it a question of the refuelling.? Could Concorde not use the sea route which the yachts take on the Round the World yacht race? They could refuel and slip crews en route at various suitable airports. Regards. AR1
