Well I just went to Lyme the other day. I must say that it's rather disconcerting to see the *very* dodgy cliffs above you as you walk along the beach. Some of the landslips looked rather *too* recent for my liking.
I was most amused to see the number of amateur fossil hunters around. It rather reminded me of the Douglas Adams line "Keep banging the rocks together guys".
Lots of tourists just smashing rocks apart and presumably the odd fossil! Much better leaving it to those who know what to look for I would reckon
