A Conversation for 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Why does everyone think it's good?

Post 1

Mad - I need a holiday, very seriously...

I hate the way that everyone i meet who has read 100 yrs of solitude seems to think it is a great book. it's not. i can be easily described in 4 words: sex, death, war & incest. It's confusing and it breaks the flying hamster rule quite a lot. And even tho yes it makes sense that sons are named after their fathers was there no one else that got confused as to which Aureliano or Jose Arcadio that we were dealing with? Sorry to rant and i know i've probly jsut set myself up for a rite beating but i had to say it. you know it's true.
