A Conversation for The Ichthyosaurs of Street, Somerset, UK

See the ichthyosaurs!

A week or so ago I went to the Natural History Museum in London and took a look at the fossil Ichthyosaurs for Street and other places on display. A whole wall of them, found and mounted in great frames back.
There is also a small portrait of Mary Anning with some text about her finding these creatures of the deep.

Best thing of all is it's now free to get in smiley - smiley

Inspiring stuff it is too smiley - smiley And with the mansionly proportions of NHM it's easy to imagine the skeletons all fleshed out and swimming around above the visitors.

The Natural History Museum is one of the most beautiful buildings ever - it's the small touches that make the difference, the walls of the Wing by the Dinosaurs all have extinct animals decorating them, with more and more recent animals as you head nearer teh Earth Gallerys. It'd be worth visiting even if there were no exhibits there as it is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful buildings in the world.

I last went there the first day it was actually free - which was the day before it was advertised as being free, so had the whole place to myself. Excellent dinosaur collection, even if roughly half of the exhibits should rightfully be on display at Dinosaur Isle...
