I read in Popular Science about the second prize winners in a student airplane design contest. Their plane, the 'Ikelos', looks a heckuva lot like these paper airplanes. Well, not a heckuva lot, but it looks like they used a similar idea. The wings curve up and join on top, anyway.
The Ikelos, according to a story on page 48 of the October 2002 issue of Pop Sci, was designed by teams of students at Virginia Tech and Loughborough University in Leicistershire. The story doesn't mention "compression lift", so this may be completely spurious. It doesn't mention any other kind of lift, either.
