I must say that I found this article invaluable just last week. Being a Melbourne girl, and having pretty much stayed in Victoria all my life, I had no idea how to buy beer in other states.
I went to Canberra and Sydney last week, where I happened upon a pub or two 
, and decided to stick to pints, as it seemed the common name that we could all relate to.
This turned out to be the best thing for it (apart from the fact that I was drinking PINTS ), as I was later told by Canberra mates that a lot of barmen have no problems with openly laughing at people who request "pots" (which is what we call them here).
So thank you again, for saving me from what could've been a very brutal embarrasment, and giving me an excuse to drink in copious amounts!
