Psychometrics
Psychometrics is quite literaly mind-measuring. As this is somewhat difficult for people to do directly at the moment, due to insufficient technology, Dr alfred Binet started mapping intelligence in 1904 using question and answer based intelligence tests.
Since that time, the methodology has improved somewhat, as have the number of properties that can be mapped. These properties include things like general intelligence, usually represented as "g", gardner's 7 specific intelligences, the stuff that goes to make up emotional intelligence, stability/neuroticism, introversion/extroversion, and a number of others.
