Does anyone remember PowerBasic? A BASIC compiler for DOS. It was very famous here in Germany, since it was really cheap and many schools and pupils used it to learn programming. I really, really used it a lot when I was at school.
Hmm. Just found out that powerbasic.com is the current place of this compile. And they ported it to Windows! Hey! 
Not that this is any good... I've left my Basic-years behind, and with it my Windows-years, too.
