...I made Spaetzle for 15 people, without any of the right tools. (Why oh why didn't I just serve potatoes? )
The holes in my colander turned out to be too small, and pushing them through the cheesegrater with a spoon just took too long for so many. I found that a slotted spatula worked, though, just load it with a good dollop of dough and use a second spatula to push them through
Still took me an hour and a half, using two saucepans at once Never again, without a Spaetzlehobel...
But they were delicious!

When my middle son moved to Osnabrück, one of the first things he set out to buy was a Spätzlehobel. He was met with blank looks in smaller shops and searched supermarkets to no avail. It was on the top of his list first time he came home. When you do have the right equipment, it's a good way to feed a large crowd.
Did you serve sauerkraut with them?

I might have to buy one when I go back.
No, I did asparagus (green, fried in butter with sliced almonds), a leafy salad, and flatbread with pesto, onions, garlic, aubergines and sesame on top.
