so flippers and wellington boots defy purpose, and are designed to inflict as much pain upon the wearer as possible?
Even platforms and stilettos are not [i]designed[/i] to inflict pain. Believe it or not, many women actually go out of their way to wear them, and they can be considered forms of "power dressing"
