This not only is my favourtie Book but my favourite film.

I am also currently writing an English Lit (RPR) essay on the topic of relationships in the 200 year gap between Austen Wrote Pride and Prejudice and Fielding wrote Bridget Jones. THis is v positive as you can imagine as Bridget Jones infact is a reworking of Austens Pride and Prejudice. (you will also be happy to know that I have managed to get Bridget's Favourite word in there = "fuckwittage" yippy)

Bridget I find is a lovely character and Renee Zellweger couldn't have made a better Bridget. Also the fact that the film has Colin Firth in it just makes it better.smiley - winkeye

To quote myself from my RPR
"Bridget Jones embodies every woman's idiosyncrasies even to the point of standing open mouthed during Mascara application"

Who couldn't love Bridget?

Does it actually say in the book that she is blonde? I imagined her to look more like Jude does in the film. And as for the panty hose - I read the book a second time after the film had been made, specifically looking for this, but it hardly gets a mention.

I am surprised it's mentioned in this entry, as in all other aspects it refers to the book rather than the film. (diamond patterned jumper was the book version; reindeer was the film version)

The thing I wish they had kept the same as the book (although I love both book and film) was the whole Pam bit because I just thought that was wonderfully cringe worthy.

I don't know if i also though Bridget would be blonde but i certainly thought Renee Zellweger did Bridget well...a little mor dumb blonde than perhaps she should have been but never the less i liked her.

I'm biased though Bridget Jones not only is my fav book
(fav books are:
1 Bridget Jones
2Pride and Prejudice
3Bridget jones the Edge of Reason
4fever Pitch
5High Fidelity)

but one of my fav films
(fav films:
1Withnail and I
2bridget Jones
3Fever Pitch
4Some Like it Hot
5Gross Point Blank)

I also read the book post seeing the film so didn't get my own picture of Bridget which probably makes what I've just written irrelavent. (I also think in the film Jude was portrayed as a little bit more of a wimp...i means she's meant to be the boss of a bank or something isn't she?)

I would like to make a statment which i know is felt by more than just me...

1) BRIDGET ISN'T FAT!
2) RENEE ZELLWEGER LOOKS BETTER AT BRIDGET SIZE THAN AT HER NORMAL
SIZE!

I mean since when was 9 or 10 stone considered fat? If anything that's normal!

I agree - I don't think, just from reading the book, that she's fat at all. She hovers around 8 1/2 stone - that's quite normal.

I tell you the worst thing, Bridget is obsessed with her size and therefore has become a statistic. I'm in there as well, and it's ridiculous, what happened to the whole, "beauty is only skin deep", "It's what's on the inside that counts" crap all go?
