A Conversation for Sensible Sun Exposure

It pays to bear in mind that lab testing has shown that clothing does not offer a lot of protection from the sun. A t-shirt or similar woven cotten fabric has an SPF of about 4. An oxford broadcloth shirting is about SPF 6. Most summer sun dresses and cover-ups offer between SPF 4 and 6. The bad thing is that the rays get through without the "benefit" of a tan.
Don't rely on clothing alone to shield you from damaging UV rays.
