A most interesting read! Well done! Apart from being a superb player JM is also an incredibly knowledgeable and captivating showman off-court, with his sheer energy and brilliance, his insightful commentaries and flamboyant interview style, breathing new life into what had become a tired, formulaic BBC Wimbledon presentation. He has that rare quality of being being both a superb sportsman and a natural communicator, and being articulate, engaging and enthusiastic for the game, he continues to inspire others.

Hey Zaphod, I know exactly where you are coming from. (Apologies for the dated language!) Mac was the only reason I started watching tennis. He was as entertaining with his raquet work as he was with his temperament. Mac also saved Wimbledon from the spectre of Sir Cliff.

John is good tennis player. I’ve seen couple of his games from documentaries, and the rivalries he had, his commentary for tennis in particular for Wimbledon is interesting, he doesn’t just tell you what the players are doing, he says what they can do to win that point and he is right as well.
