It's serious - don't even try to attack us (yes, I've done it too!). Frequently we can't see much out of the suit, and have a minder to make sure we don't fall down steps etc.
They are also very capable of helping us defend ourselves, and event / site security look very unfavourably on any oiks who try to hurt us staff.
Oh, and I normally wear a headset radio under my suits to talk to my minder or base, so I can call in more backup than you want.

I'm happy you're well defended. There are lots of poor folk who dress up in costume for their high schools or something, who aren't quite so lucky. Assaults are not only bad ettiquette, they're bad taste. I once put my arm around a high school tiger mascot, only to discover later it was a teenage girl...
