There is also an interchange on the perimeter of Atlanta, Georgia, nicknamed "Spaghetti Junction." It's an impressive knot of roads and overpasses, although it sounds like Birmingham's SJ is a lot more ghastly.
I drove through Atlanta's SJ many times when I lived in the area, and the traffic was rarely bad. Atlanta's SJ serves mainly as a landmark, as in, "I live about five miles south of Spaghetti Junction."
