A Conversation for The Other Side of Roald Dahl - Part Three
The best books to read out loud...

Thank you for a lovely piece on Roald Dahl. I read his books ,some more than once to my daughter at bedtimes, we both laugh at them and they are hands down the easiest and best books to read aloud. I wouldn't be surprised if her good progress in literacy at school is a result of being exposed to them.

The best books to read out loud...

Hi OOHTM - absolutely - both my kids benefited from his stories - they were also lucky to meet him and have their favorite books signed by RD which they have never forgotten (they are both in their 30's) and in fact recently were worried that their Dahl books may no longer be at home with me - they are of course. They had no such concerns about all the other children's books. My passion was (and still is) Richmal Crompton's William books - they have similar anarchic values and the 'defeat' of stupid adults.
Best wishes
