A Conversation for Intervention in Somalia (1992 - 1995)
Peacekeeping?

Having been in the Canadian military at the time... peacekeeping actually, but elsewhere... and having read Gen. Lewis MacKenzie's biography, I was under the impression that the UN presence in Somalia was guarding NGO relief convoys and not "peacekeeping" as proposed by Lester B. Pearson and defined by the UN. I had supposed this was just about when the press started to use the term so loosely. Was it actually a "peacekeeping" action? chapter six or whatever?

My understanding is that there was a chapter six peacekeeping mandate.
