Formerly and, I believe, originally known as "The Sacred Miracle Mystery Hole." I used to see the sign every time about half-way through an 18-hour drive to go see the family at holidays and such. Every time I said I was going to stop there sometime. Then West Virginia got a 4-lane highway across the state (finally) and I didn't go that way again for years.
So a few years ago, the family was getting together in Eastern Kentucky for a family reunion camp-out and, of course, my first thought on the matter was "I can stop and see the Sacred Miracle Mystery Hole."
So I contacted West Virginia's tourism division, and found out that it was no longer a sacred miracle (I guess the Pope must have de-certified it or something), but was definately a mystery hole.
Worth stopping at, if it's not too far out of your way and you have half an hour to kill.
